Hard Talks Pt 3: truth from perspective

Expect the unexpected and weird things to happen everyday.

In every conversation there are multiple truths. Within those truths is a unique perspective and connecting conversations honor multiple truths. If we each took a corner of an intersection and watched a collision occur, there would be multiple truths derived from individual perspectives. Physics dictates that we see things from the vantage point by which we are standing.

Take these two pictures of the beach. Both are taken at the very same beach; however we see very different things based on where the photographers are standing. Sometimes I will have a couple stand with their backs to each other and describe my offices from their vantage points. Both of them will be standing at the very same spot in the room, and yet they see very different things. In this exercise, there can be almost no commonality to their visual experiences.
