When left where it was unceremoniously dropped, a pile of bullshit is never in the right place, stinks, bring unwanted negative attention, attracts pests, and gets stepped in and spread everywhere no one wants it.

That same bullshit becomes a potent fertilizer that will nourish a healthy culture and microbiome, enrich the environment, increase water retention and drainage, improve root health, and lead to a more abundant and resilient crop.

There is ZERO difference in the starting point of these two scenarios. Both are icky and stink. When left to stink, bullshit fosters shame.

The bullshit may be experiencing someone’s bad attitude, an unfair review at work, being bullied, or not being able to safely express your opinion.

Don’t believe you must accept what is heaped on you with an unrealistic and unhealthy positive attitude. Find daring and creative ways to transform this unwanted bullshit into something productive and positive. Utilize scaffolding, strategies, and SMART goals to fertilize and nurture your future to grow into what you want it to be.

IMPORTANT

In no way am I endorsing or encouraging bullying. I do not believe that a person should be bullied in order to experience growth. I’ve personally experienced and seen the effects this destructive behavior can have on a person. It is never appropriate, nor is it the person being bullied’s fault. You didn’t ask for it. If you’re being bullied at any age, seek outside assistance where appropriate to find a way out of the situation. If you are in crisis or need help creating a crisis plan urgently, reach out to a mental healthcare provider in your area, contact the crisis text line by texting “home” to 741741, or call the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 800-273-8255. Find someone to talk to about it. Share your fears and hurts.
